Every Child a Reader is an award-winning 501 (c)(3) charity dedicated to inspiring a love of reading in children and teens across the United States. By making a tax-deductible donation to Every Child a Reader, you can take a much-needed step to encourage young people to read and to succeed in school and in life, and to support the vital work every day of teachers and librarians.
Every Child a Reader has been awarded a Mellon Grant and the prestigious Eric Carle Honors Angel Award as an essential literacy charity and has achieved a Guidestar Platinum level rating by Candid, the leading charity rating site.
Our four popular and long-running national programs distribute free and fun educational materials and books to children, teens, families, teachers, and librarians in over 2,500 rural, suburban, and urban communities coast to coast and year-round. The 4 programs are Children’s Book Week, The National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Get Caught Reading, and the Anna Dewdney Read-Together Award.
